Scotch Hunter - A Guide to Single Malt Scotch

A Guide to Single Malt Scotch

Category: Auchentoshan

The Auchentoshan Distillery was founded in 1823, and is located in Dalmuir, Scotland. Still in operation after almost 200 years, Auchentoshan’s specialty is triple-distilled malt whisky. This gives it a sweeter flavor than many other Scotch Whiskies. Most of its expressions lack any hint of peat.

Their ranges, which they like to refer to as their “freedom of expressions,” consist of three different types of malt: classic, which is distilled and matured exclusively in American casks, aged single malts (12, 18 and 21 year old), and a three wood expression, which is matured in three different cask types. All of their malts contain at least 40% ABV.

Tours are open to the public, although they vary in depth and price. A basic 60 minute tour costs about £6. For those wanting a bit more, £200 will get you a special one-on-one tour outside of normal business hours, with many more options in between. Classic Tours are scheduled at 10am, 12 noon, 1pm & 3pm.
