A Guide to Single Malt Scotch

Category: Bunnahabhain

The Bunnahabhain Distillery is the is the largest producer of single malt on the isle of Islay. Founded in the 1800’s, it is located on the north end of the island. Tours are held regularly at the distillery, which is very much a part of the local community (the majority of residents are employed here). Bunnahabhain markets its malt as the mildest of all of the Isay malts.  It has very fruity undertones with a woody finish. This is coupled with a lovely smoky smell, which really heightens the tasting experience. In addition to this lighter whisky, from time to time the distillery has also introduced very dark single malts. The most popular of these being the Cruach-Mhona.
