Scotch Hunters Reach 300 Single Malts

Jul 20, 2012 No Comments by

Don and Steve recently tasted their 300th different single malt this past July!  For this special occasion, Steve’s brother purchased a cask strength 21-year old Auchroisk from the Royal Mile Whisky Shop in Endinburgh, Scotland.  We rated this beautiful expression 5- stars.  The malt was light gold in color.  Its nose was floral and malty with notes of vanilla cream and pear.  Its palate was light and melony with hints of spicy wood.  Despite its proof (58.1% alc/vol), it was not overwhelming.  Its finish was medium in length, clean, with a light flowery sweetness.  This cask strength 21-year old Auchroisk ranks as one of the very best we’ve ever tasted.
