I’m certainly not a scotch expert, but I do know what I like, I’ve been sipping on a small neat glass of The Glenlivet 16 year old for the past 45 minutes and am completely enjoying it!
To me, it has a very earthy nose with a bit of honey/caramel/mushroom undertone. When sipped, it is very aggressive! The spiciness surprised me, but then I realized it’s 57% alcohol.
As I swish it in my mouth, I can taste the earthiness with a slightly sweet tone. I definitely know there is an assertive scotch in my mouth! It has a good bite to it, but certainly not overdone. Very enjoyable.
The finish is wonderful. It has great longevity and truly enjoyable. I’ve nursed this for almost an hour now and have not felt the need to hurry my sipping. Some of the smoother scotches would never last that long in my glass!
I don’t think I’ll have a second shot right now… I can definitely feel the buzz from this one!
Highly recommended!
