In Impressions from the Scotch Hunters

For this month’s tasting, we revisited two old friends and added two new malts to our list.  Three expressions came from the Speyside region and one from Campbeltown.  The Glen Moray – Elgin Classic was pretty nondescript.  It was light and nutty with citrus notes.  The Criagellachie 13 year old is a fine value.  It too, is a light fruity malt with lingering citrus notes.  The Glen Scotia 15 year old was a the star of this group with its fruity and vanilla notes accompanied by a subtle dryness.  Its finish is long and spicy with a hint of peat.  Our finishing malt was the Benriach Malting Season.  It was a strong performer with its malty sweetness, along with its honeycomb infused citrus and apple flavors.

Our more detailed impressions can be found in the Tasting Notes of this website.
