An Cnoc is a distillery situated in the village of Knock in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Its story started when John Morrison, an enterprising chap, bought an estate that is surrounded by peat and barley. He also had the water in the area analyzed. After some negotiations, An Cnoc was launched in October 1894. During this time, the distillery was considered as the perfect example of a modern distillery. It was previously known as Knockdhu, but to avoid being confused with Knockdhu, it was renamed to An Cnoc in 1994.
Over the years, the distillery has produced a modern, intriguing, and light single malt that catches the delicate taste of various flavors. It features a variety of bottling ages such the An Cnoc 12-, 16-, 22-, and 35- year old single malt whisky. The An Cnoc 12 year old is considered the most popular of its expressions. It features an aromatic smell with a hint of honey and can be served in any occasion. The distillery also offered an An Cnoc Vintage 1998 that was bottled in February 2012.
Visitors are always welcome at the distillery but those wishing a tour should schedule an appointment to ensure that they will be entertained.
