Too Much Going On

 In Occasional Musings

We first discovered GlenAllachie just a couple of years ago.  The distillery was opened in 1967 and its spirits were used mostly in blended malts.  Six single casks bottlings were released in 2018 under its new GlenAllachie label.  Our Tasting Group tried the cask strength 10 yo first.  It was big, bold, and full of fruit.  We liked it quite a lot.  The 12 yo, in our view, did not measure up.  I am still working through the bottle and my first impressions remain.  There is a lot going on, maybe a bit too much for me to sort out – oak, vanilla, cola, raisins, and chocolate at least – a bit muddled.  I’ll keep trying.
