Tasting – March 24, 2023

In Impressions from the Scotch Hunters

In March our Tasting Group revisited an Aultmore 18yo from Speyside and added a Dalmore 14yo from the Highlands and the Ardbeg An Oa NAS from Islay.  The oranges and tangerines were missing in this bottle of Aultmore but this is still a delicious malt albeit a pricey one.  The Dalmore 14yo is a typical Dalmore – rich with figs, dates, and nutty notes with roasted coffee.  Typically, we save the Ardbegs for colder months and have to be in the mood for these peat monsters.  The An Oa couples the peat with pancake syrup and hints of chocolate.  It is a wonderful exemplar of the Ardbeg style.
