More from Aberlour

Aberlour is a Scottish distillery located at the junction of the Spey and Lour rivers at Aberlour in Strathspey, Scotland. It was founded by Peter Weir and James Fleming in 1826. Fleming is the one responsible for designing the buildings as well as some equipment used in the distillery. Unfortunately, some of these buildings along with the majority of the whisky stocks were destroyed by a fire in 1898. With the help of whisky distillery designer Charles Doig of Elgin, the Aberlour Distillery was rebuilt with better structure and feature.

Today, almost half of the production in the distillery is used as single malt. . The majority of the single malts that are being produced by Aberlour are double cask matured. Aberlour uses an intricate process to ensure that the single malt has a rewarding character and complexity. Its well-balanced single malts include Aberlour 10, 12, 16, and 18 year olds. Due to the quality of its whiskies, the distillery has been receiving awards since 1986.

Individuals who take the Aberlour Distillery Tour are given the opportunity to taste a sample of the whiskies made at the distillery and experience how to make whisky. It also offers a Founder’s Tour that is specially designed for the whisky connoisseur.
