More from Dalwhinnie

Dalwhinnie distillery is a notable Scotch whisky distillery located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1897, the distillery is renowned for its exceptional single malt whisky, which is characterized by its honeyed sweetness and smooth, mellow flavor.  The slightest hint of peat may be present in some expressions depending on when the malt was bottled.

The distillery is situated at an altitude of 1,164 feet, making it one of the highest distilleries in Scotland. This unique location gives the whisky a distinctive character, with notes of heather, honey, and vanilla.

The distillery uses a combination of traditional and modern production methods, including the use of copper pot stills and computer-controlled fermentation, to create its award-winning whisky. The whisky is matured in a range of casks, including ex-bourbon and sherry casks, which add depth and complexity to the final product.

Visitors to the distillery can take a tour of the facilities, learn about the production process of whisky, and enjoy a tasting of some of the distillery’s finest whiskies. The distillery also offers exclusive experiences, such as a private tour and tasting.  In 2017, the Dalwhinnie tour was named the ‘Best Distillery Tour’ and can be quite popular.  Reservations are not required but might be a good idea.
