Tasting – July 14, 2023

 In Impressions from the Scotch Hunters

Our July tasting included three malts from the Highland and Speyside regions.  Surprisingly, we had not tasted the Aberlour 12 year old until now.  We thought it a soft and mellow malt with lots of fruit and sherry – a reasonably priced daily dram.  The Benromach 15 year old was beautifully dry with notes of malt and leather.  It finished nicely with spice and a hint of smoke.  Our final taste was a Tomatin Cu Bocan.  It was a subtle malt with hints of sweet chillies, nuts, and a hint of smoke, unusual for a Tomatin.
